Canolfan Heulwen
This week the children have had an excellent start to the term. Some of the children have enjoyed reading Handa’s Surprise this week and experimenting with the different fruits. They have retold the story, collected data on number of fruits to create pictograms and investigated which fruits would sink or float.
Some of the children continued their learning on World War II and investigated rationing by comparing the amount of food they eat everyday compared to the amount of food they would have had during this time.
Overall, a great start to this half term had by all!
Keep the beat, make the noise!
D1 were learning to explore sounds with instruments and their hands. Mrs Holsgrove was the conductor and we imagined what it was like for Zog y Draig to be stuck in the forest during a storm! You can see the group activities in the photos here.
Problem Solving in the Outdoors.
To be continued….D3 and D4 were working together to make shelters. They were given minimal resources but they could add any other materials from the forest school area. They decided on a star and a wish for their shelter and wanted to continue with it next week, making adjustments. Here is the story so far…

What a half term! It’s flown by!! This week the children finished off our lady of the lake stories, learned more about measuring volumes and capacity, introduced mechanisms in design and technology and found out all about Owain Glyndwr!

Another half term done in Canolfan Heulwen! A week full of fun and learning for the boys in the centre. Enjoy the half term break and we will see you all on Monday 19th February.
Dosbarth 4- Internet safety day!
Today we talked about the impact technology can have on our lives- positive and negative!
Technology can be used for so many amazing things such as researching a topic, keeping in touch with loved ones or playing games, but we must be careful we find the right balance to stay healthy in our bodies and our minds!

A very busy week in pedwar this week- we learned about a new type of sentence, began our learning about capacity, continued our recorder lessons and developed our charcoal techniques in expressive arts. Not forgetting our class assembly of course!
